Materials Needed:
- Tacky glue
- Cardstock in yellow, green, light-green, and kraft paper
- Laser engraving machine
Step-by-step Instructions:
First, you need to cut different colors of cardstock and kraft paper according to the corresponding laser cutting files. You can get these design files from Creatorally.
1.Laser Cutting Settings:
We're using the Sculpfun iCube 5W laser cutter. These are the laser cutting settings we used while making it. You can use them as a reference.
Snake Plant Leaves
- Power: 100%
- Speed: 800mm/min
- One pass
Paper Flower Pot
- Line engraving
- Power: 100%
- Speed: 10000mm/min
After cutting, you will have the individual pieces of the Snake Plant leaves and a unfolded paper flower pot.
2.Gluing the Snake Plant Leaves Together.
A whole Snake Plant leaf is made of five cut cardstock pieces: one yellow, two green, and two light green. We stick them together with tacky glue in this order: light green, green, yellow, green, light green.
Next, we stick the other three sets in the same way. Then we will have four Snake Plant leaves, all different in shape and size.
3.Fold the Flower Pot.
First, we fold the flower pot along the crease. Put glue on both sides of the pot, then fold it.
Then, fold the two creases at the top of the flower pot in the opposite direction. Tuck the protruding parts into the gaps to fix them in place. This way, the Snake Plant's flower pot is also ready.
4.Assemble the Snake Plant.
Lastly, put the four leaves we glued into the paper flower pot one by one. During assembly, we can adjust the position of each leaf to make the Snake Plant look lively and nice.
